The Customer’s Complaint: a Lashin’ Lament

This book is a proactive response to the endemic issue of unfriendly customer service in Trinidad and Tobago. A poem which carries the same title is the centerpiece of the book. It offers hard-hitting commentary in a lengthy (yet engaging) monologue from the point of view of a customer. The other main portion of the book is a training manual which is designed for business owners and workshop facilitators. It provides a diverse range of exercises and activities which can be used to customize each learning experience. It takes a gentle approach, and encourages soul-searching introspection, thorough analysis of customer service issues, and opportunities to build or sharpen one’s people skills. The book also serves up interesting proverbs, customer-service statistics, relevant quotes, extra poems, and concepts borrowed from the philosophical structure of Chinese script. This is a unique project as it speaks the language of most people in Trinidad and Tobago by presenting the main poetic piece in a seamless combination of both Creole English (dialect) and Standard English. There is nothing quite like it on the local market. (audio will be prepared in due course). … note: this book is currently being revised and should be released soon.
